MAG's Our Favourite Shooter Thus Far This Year, We're Stoked About The Updates.

Zipper’s confirmed that the long-awaited “2.0″ title update to MAG will be available within a month. The patch will not only include support for the PlayStation Move, but also a redesigned skill-tree and increased level cap. Zipper reckons that MAG now boasts “the deepest character customization and specialization ever found in a first-person shooter”. Neat.

The update will also include a new in-game economy system with which match winnings can be used to purchase new gear. It all sounds rather exciting, and a brilliant way to breathe new life into the massive shooter.

Like This, But With Added Zombie Hordes.

Rockstar’s dropped a few details on the upcoming Undead Nightmare Pack for Red Dead Redemption. The pack, which is set to bring zombies to the Westerner, will mostly contain single-player content, and will see protagonist John Marston trying to find a cure for “highly infectious zombie plague that has spread across the frontier”.

The pack will feature new gameplay mechanics, weapons, animals and a new location. Rockstar will also be adding in a new multiplayer mode.

The pack will cost $9.99. It’s rumoured that it will release on Halowe’en week, though there’s been no confirmation of that as of yet.

We’re not going to drop it. Vito Scaletta’s side-kick in Mafia II, Joe Barbaro, is clearly based upon top restaurateur, and Britains Best Dish judge, Ed Baines.

And now he’s due to get his own DLC campaign in Mafia II. No, not Ed Baines; his video game counterpart – Joe Barbaro. The DLC, Joe’s Adventure, takes place during Vito’s stint in prison and sees Joe uncover the truth about the Clemente family.

2K’s promising a “dramatic storyline” with “intense arcade style” gameplay. The DLC will also unlock several new sections of Empire Bay including a train station, boat-yard and lakefront. The pack will also include new clothing and music.

There’s no word of pricing or release dates.

It Might Remind Us Of John Terry, But We Think This PSP Looks Pretty Neat.

Who cares if developers are already messing around with the PSP2? There are still plenty of original PlayStation Portable games out there; with a few excellent ones still to come. If you’re still lagging behind the curve, and are yet to buy a PSP, perhaps you should consider one of these new Japanese models.

The blue-and-white two-tone PSP 3000 might look a little bit like a Chelsea kit, but we like it. There’s a red and black alternative if you’re a United fan (or listen to Trivium). Both will retail at ¥17,800.

Sony’s also announced they’ll be releasing a 320GB version of the white PlayStation 3. That’ll cost ¥34,980. Classic white was previously only available with a 160GB hard-drive.

Hey, Guess What, The Mortal Kombat Guys Have The New Iteration Of The PSP.

You know the follow-up to Sony’s PlayStation Portable? Yeah, it’s not been announced. There have been plenty of rumours about the device, but it still feels like an announcement is some way off.

That’s not stopping developers from casually revealing they’ve got the device though. Take NetherRealm’s executive producer Shaun Himmerick. He’s familiar with the system, and he doesn’t seem to care who knows it. Speaking in an interview with IndustryGamers, the Mortal Kombat man said:

“We are looking at [PSP and DS]; we have a PSP2 in the house and we’re looking at the engine, like what can it support,” he said. “Always a big thing for us is the performance.

“We’re running at 60 fps, what can we do and do we have to build all the art assets over. We’re definitely looking at them. PSP2 looks like it’s a pretty powerful machine. We don’t have a 3DS system in house yet, but we’re looking to get one, and we’ll certainly look at what its power is.”

We imagine there was a moment within the IndustryGamers office where the journos looked at each other half shocked, half satisfied. After all, the click-through numbers following this story will be pretty strong.

How can the team have a PSP2 – which, we’ll reiterate, has not been announced – but not a 3DS? That’s madness. And also, what does the PSP2 look like? What does it do? What are its specs? Blah blah blah.

Wow, what a crazy story. It’s not the first time we’ve heard of wild PSP2 development kits, but we assumed they were under lock and key at Sony’s first-party studios. It’s crazy to think a third-party team like NetherRealm actually have a device. How has it not leaked, yet?
